Moving and Packing up Your Fine Arts: What To Do and Not to Do

Moving to a new place can be daunting, not to mention a lot of hard work and labor. However, when you hire movers for the job, you can reduce the stress that you feel, while also saving your back from the heavy lifting that needs to be done. If you’re one of those residents that have many pieces of art, then you have to know how to pack them up and move them to the new place.

Here are some considerations to take in mind when it comes to packing and moving your fine arts from one home to the next.

Packing Up Fine Arts

Packing up your fine arts can be tricky. You have to purchase bubble wrap, as well as a cardboard paper wrap to go over this. Wrap the fine arts up tightly, and ensure that you’re placing them in a box that fits them well and does not give them much room to wiggle around. This can damage the art if you’re moving the box, and it is moving around inside.

Another option is to skip the packing with bubble wrap and other methods, and to purchase an art box made specifically for art pieces that cost a decent amount. You slip them into the desired slots, slip the top on the box, then it is able to be moved.

Moving Fine Arts

When the time comes to move the fine arts, it is always recommended that you clearly mark the box for what the items are. Make sure to add fragile to the outside, and fine arts. This is especially true if you’re hiring movers. They need to know how to handle the boxes, and where to place them when it comes to putting them on the truck.

Shipping Fine Arts

While it can be done, it is not recommended that you ship fine arts to the new place. Not only are you trusting in the mail professionals to move the item, and have nothing happen to it, but you’re not in complete control of how the item is handled. This can be nerve wracking to most, especially if it is an expensive piece of art. It is best to leave it in your hands during the move.
